The Roche Caiman Sanctuary - Climate Impacts on Wetlands

The Roche Caiman Sanctuary is a habitat for many unique and endemic birds, insects, and plants. We are concerned about what might happen to this special area if the climate begins to change and starts to affect the streams that lead into the marsh area.

Many insects are part of this complex ecosystem and if they are not able to reproduce it will affect the whole food chain and animals that depend on them for nourishment. Birds use our island to migrate from Europe to southern latitudes but if they do not have insects to sustain them they may no longer migrate through our islands.
